Bland Intruders is a spin-off of Store Facades, and focuses on the hidden ‘fern’ - here understood to be any (probably fake) potted plant. The actual type of plant is of the utmost inconsequence. These ferns sit in retail or showroom spaces, just visual ‘fluff’ - something to be looked through, not at. They exist to not exist, like parsley on a plate, but they’re ubiquitous to the retail experience - ferns become tangible Muzak. For this series I chose to de-populate the Store Facades universe and simply show their bland, inconspicuous existence.
